Ida Presti

Composer

Ida Presti (1924-1967) was a French guitarist, composer and pedagogue, recognised as one of the great figures of 20th-century classical guitar.

A child prodigy, she began her career as a concert performer at the age of nine and quickly appeared on major stages. Several works were dedicated to her, including Francis Poulenc’s Sarabande. Together with her husband, Alexandre Lagoya, she formed an internationally renowned guitar duo.

Writing exclusively for her instrument, she left behind a refined repertoire, rich in colour and marked by a distinctive virtuosity.
