Collective Slameke
Slam poetry collective
Founded in Brussels in 2016, Slameke is a leading slam collective and a key player in Belgium's spoken word scene. A pioneer of Brussels' open mic culture, the collective has spent nearly a decade promoting spoken word poetry through performances, writing workshops, educational projects, and a wide range of cultural initiatives.
Bringing together poets and performers with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, Slameke champions an inclusive and welcoming approach to slam, grounded in creativity, dialogue, and freedom of expression. Rooted in the tradition of community arts and lifelong learning, the collective views spoken word as a powerful tool for artistic creation, social engagement, and civic participation.
Through its regular open mic events, collaborations with schools and cultural institutions, and Slameke Radio—a mobile web radio dedicated to promoting artistic and cultural initiatives—the collective continues to nurture emerging voices and contribute to the vibrant development of Belgium's spoken word community.
